Controversial opinion!
Analytics isn't about data.
Analytics is about processes.
Analytics is the science of analysis.
Analysis is the process of breaking a complex topic into smaller components so we can understand how they work.
If we understand how each sub-element works, we can optimize them, and the whole.
Marketing is also a process.
That's why marketing is defined as "the art and science of exploring, creating and delivering value to satisfy the needs of a target market at a profit."
Collecting and analyzing data is a very popular but certainly not the only method and skillset in the toolkit of a real analyst.
If analysts were not so obsessed with #GA4 or other tools, we could shift the focus from data as an end in itself to data as one of many tools in the analytical toolkit.
