Controversial opinion: #dashboards are obsolete.
They give a myopic view of performance metrics. When KPIs trend upwards, decision-makers turn their gaze away, assuming all is well.
This approach can overlook underlying issues that could eventually impact these #KPIs adversely.
Years ago, Sean Byrnes created Outlier.ai - this was before the AI-everything we know today. Although no longer available, its foresight was commendable and certainly ahead of its time.
Outlier.ai harnessed data from multiple sources, finding anomalies and patterns in the data to unveil critical insights that could easily have flown under the radar. This proactive stance enabled the early identification of potential problems, mitigating issues that could ripple through performance metrics.
It could show:
a) what happened
b) why it mattered
c) what was the underlying cause.
☐ How many analysts on your team can truly deliver on these fronts?
☐ Are you aware of any contemporary tools or services akin to Outlier.ai?
☐ With the advent of #AI, are dashboards now relics of the past?
I'm joining a few pages from an old Outlier.ai presentation.
