I just lived a terrible #digitalmarketing experience! Several days ago, I filled a form - I traded some personal details in exchange for something I thought would be valuable to me. I usually fill random junk in those forms for the very reason you will see below (my bad! I should have known better!) It turns out the info wasn't what I was looking for. So I moved on and forgot about it. But over the past several days, almost every day, I got several calls from different numbers. I filter all my calls because: a) I'm busy! b) I get too much phone spam! They NEVER left a message. Then I get this email... (see screenshot) Wow! Just WOW! Am I the only one who think this is super rude? If after 2 or 3 calls I never replied, the proper thing to do is: a) leave a message and WAIT for me to call back IF I’m interested; b) use another channel - like email… (notice the email is trying to track when I open it, but I block the loading of all remote content in emails) Plus… as a bonus: I don’t give a damn about the fine print at the bottom of the email. I can do whatever I want with it - including writing a social post about how bad this is! Such a statement is not legally binding since there was no prior agreement. Notice, also, there is no mention of how they got my email in the first place, which is illegal under the CAN-SPAM law (Canada) and other jurisdictions. I was on the verge of publicly shaming the company. It will depend on how they react. I was very clear in my reply: do not contact me again. Let's see what happens next...
