I just perused the "Merkle 2021 Consumer Experience Sentiment Report" which came out yesterday. The study claims "Only 23% of respondents oppose sharing personal information regardless of benefit — down 5% from 2020" - which makes it sound like the vast majority of people are OK with sharing their personal information. In fact, they picked only one of the research findings and turned it into a highlight... What really comes out of it is "there is still the fear that some brands are reaching an intrusive and “creepy” level of personalization." ► 51% of respondents feel brand know too much about them. ► 44% often feels how brand uses their data is invasive. ► 49% find it makes it easier to find what they want (less than half!) ► 62% DO NOT feel comfortable sharing their browsing history (I flipped some of those numbers... the report says 38% are OK with it). ► 79% are NOT comfortable sharing their contacts. ► 66% are NOT comfortable if brands use their purchase history. ► 77% are NOT comfortable when their location is used. ► 53% are NOT comfortable if their psychographic data is used. IMHO, well over 50% of respondents are uncomfortable with at least one aspect of how their personal information is being used for #digitalmarketing! #dataprivacy #NoConsentNoTracking
