I was reading a post by a sales rep who complained (rightly so) about being ghosted after taking the time to respond to an RFP. No follow-up, no response to his phone calls or emails. Unprofessional, borderline unethical, and a waste of time. Just saying "no, thank you" would have been so simple.
This reminded me of an event that happened a few weeks ago.
I was contacted by someone who was once my manager and who continued to collect big titles by changing jobs very regularly. I wouldn't say he was a friend, just a professional acquaintance. I wouldn't say he was a good manager either... Now the VP Marketing of a large organization, he sought out my services to help them with their #digitalanalytics.
Since I'm already quite busy and don't want to commit to new consulting assignments, I offered to help him find a good partner - another trusted freelancer or agency. He said his secretary would contact me.
I talked to a few trusted people. I contacted the CEO of an agency who told me that this same person had also wasted his time... I heard nothing for two weeks, so I contacted him again - then nothing, a ghost....
Unprofessional. No ethics. Waste of time.
This person is barred.
