It's very interesting to see The Markup article talking about tax filing websites sending data to #Facebook.
About three years ago, I filled a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada/Commissariat à la protection de la vie privée du Canada because Equifax Canada was doing something similar - maybe not sending directly as much info, but still using the Facebook Pixel tag in the authenticated section of the site.
I didn't hear about it for a whole year.
And it took another year for Equifax to remove the FB pixel from the authentication section of the site (in fact, they completely redesigned the site in the meantime). They were also (and are still) using Adobe Analytics with a user id... At the time, I also found zombie pixels from dead companies and a bunch of other analytics and ad network tags.
I discovered this after the Desjardins #databreach (largest financial institution in Quebec, with nearly 9.5M accounts affected) and we were directed to the Equifax identity theft monitoring service...
