On this #dataprivacyday, I'm pleased to share a little more about my involvement with Josh Manion, Julie Oberweis, and Joshua Goodwin, who are working on Vault JS, a #privacy auditing solution that inventories and monitors changes to the dozens, if not hundreds, of JavaScript files used by any modern website. Having built WASP myself over fifteen years ago, I know how difficult it is to separate the wheat from the chaff and identify real data quality issues and, more importantly, personal data leaks. Furthermore, simply taking an inventory of the cookies or first layer of tags found on a site is far from sufficient. Seemingly harmless scripts can load others, which in turn can load others, and finally, down the chain, one of them can do something malicious - intentionally or not. Vault JS is a new and powerful approach that goes beyond anything I've seen before. Being on their advisory board is a great opportunity to bring my experience and insight to this already very experienced team. The solution is still young, but the promise is ambitious. That's one of the reasons I wanted to get involved - as I do with a number of other #privacytech startups. #martech #digitalmarketing #NoConsentNoTracking #dataprivacy #GDPR #CCPA
