The level of support that followed my #jobhunting post yesterday is incredible. I realize few people are willing to share their negative #jobsearch experience - as if it was a sign of weakness or something...
I reached out to at least two dozen of my closest contacts.
I applied to over 30 carefully selected jobs that I knew I would be a good fit for.
I got ONE interview.
And most of the others didn't even have the decency to send me an automated email to let me know I hadn't been selected. Keep in mind that each of these jobs was a management position, not your run-of-the-mill junior position.
What is sad is how many people have contacted me privately to share similar stories. Typically, these are people with a lot of experience, over the age of 40, who had their own startups or have been consultants for a long time and want to return to an in-house position.
Considering that in the Executive MBA marketing course I recently taught, half of the attendees had #HRmarketing as a priority, it certainly doesn't inspire me to send them the many students and professionals in my network who ask me for career advice!
Then these companies boast of having human values and a great #corporateculture...
On a more positive note, I see a lot of #job movement in my network - people in #digitalmarketing and #digitalanalytics taking their careers to new levels.
Don't worry, from my side, #teaching at FSA ULaval is something I enjoy immensely and I am already welcoming new #consultant clients.
