When John Roa contacted me a few months ago, I was thinking about what role I wanted to play over the next few years.
Yesterday, I announced that I am now a member of Caden’s advisory board. I have absolutely no doubt that Caden will play an important role in the world of zero-party data. Caden’s vision is nothing less than a reversal of the control of personal data—it’s what it should have been all along! Surveillance capitalism would never have evolved into the monster it is today. It makes no sense to spread our data to countless places where we have virtually no control and where the security risks are very real.
I’ve been following what other zero-party data players want to do, but trust me, Caden has the vision, the means and the entourage to succeed.
Sure, GDPR and other regulators are finally framing some practices. The problem is that while we debate the legal details and interpretation of hundreds of privacy regulations; while vendors roll up their sleeves to find creative ways to collect even more data than ever before; we lose sight of the fact that marketing is all about developing a mutually beneficial relationship of trust.
